The third wedding of the summer. Two of them on rainy days, this one, a perfect summer day strolling into evening. A mildly tipsy Asha sat down on a white wooden chair, took off her strappy yellow heels, and cooled her feet in the green grass. She closed her eyes, and smiled at the sound of the guests’ laughter. Old friends clinked glasses and embraced, new friends danced and sang along to old songs while envisaging a late night kiss. Asha breathed in the night air, and her eyes shot open when a firefly landed on the tip of her nose. She shook it from her face, and it landed on the back of her hand flashing an incandescent light as if it had a message to relay.
Her black dress was made from a 100% silk sari hand-woven in a textile cooperative based in Orissa, India trimmed in green with an ancient temple motif and bhomkai. Made in India. Designed in Brooklyn.
